The House of Represenatives is made up of 435 members. The number of representatives for each state depends on the population of the state. The population is determined by a Census, which is what counts the number of people in each state in the country. If a state gains a representative, that means another state has to lose a representative. My state, Wisconsin, has eight representatives. The representative for my part of the state is republican Tom Petri. Representatives serve a term of two years without a limited number of terms (they still have to get votes every two years). The leaders of the House of Representatives have three leaders, Speaker of the House, Floor Leader, and Floor Whip. To become a representative, you need to be at least 25 years old, a citizen of the U.S. for at least 7 years, and a legal resident of the state.
